PCP and HP Claims for Mis-Sold Car Finance Agreements

Important Update: FCA Redress Pause

Following recent guidance from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), there is currently a temporary pause on certain redress payments and claims processing until the 4th December 2025. This pause is in place to ensure that all claims are handled in accordance with the latest regulatory requirements. For more information, please visit the FCA website.

WHY YOU MIGHT BE OWED MONEY

Many car finance deals included hidden commissions — without your knowledge.
If your lender or car dealer failed to explain how your loan was arranged or earned a secret commission, you may have been mis-sold car finance.

This affects common agreements like:

  • PCP (Personal Contract Purchase)

  • HP (Hire Purchase)

You could be eligible if:

  • You were not told about a commission or interest markup

  • The loan was not clearly explained to you

  • You were given poor advice or felt pressured

  • Having finance on brands like Ford, Mercedes, VW, BMW, Audi, Nissan, Peugeot, or others could mean you qualify — but only if your agreement also meets the other required conditions.

FAQs

A car finance claim is a way of reclaiming money you may be owed if your PCP or HP agreement was mis-sold, often through hidden commissions or unfair interest rates.

If you weren’t told about commission payments, interest rates weren’t fully explained, or you felt pressured, there’s a good chance you were mis-sold.

The amount you could receive will depend on your individual circumstances, including the details of your finance agreement(s) and any commission involved. In some cases, people with one or more agreements have received amounts ranging from a few hundred pounds to several thousand pounds. However, there is no set or guaranteed amount.

The time needed to resolve your claim varies based on your lender’s response and the complexity of your case. Although the FCA has paused complaints until December 4th, 2025, you can still submit your claim directly to your lender.

If your claim is successful, you may be entitled to a financial refund. The compensation you receive will depend on the specifics of your agreement and how much the mis-selling affected you.

WHAT IS A PCP CLAIM?

A PCP claim allows you to recover money from a mis-sold car finance agreement.

Over 90% of new car buyers in the UK use finance. Many were misled by dealerships and brokers who failed to disclose commissions or inflated interest rates.

If this happened to you, you may be able to reclaim:

  • Hidden commission payments

  • Unfair interest

  • Part of your monthly repayments

It only takes a minute to check.
